How to Measure a Trampoline | Ultimate Guide (2023)

Whether you are looking for replacements of your current trampoline or looking for accessories of it, measuring your trampoline is important to know the exact and right size.

In addition, if you are looking for some custom arrangements, it is important to learn how to measure a trampoline (of any type).

In this guide we will guide you in detail how to take measurements of different shapes of trampolines and the parts of it in case you need other sizes of spring, mats, etc.

Without any further delay, let’s dive straight into it.

Measuring Different shapes

As trampolines comes in various shapes, so let us see how to measure any kind on trampoline.

How to measure a round trampoline

Measuring a round trampoline is super easy; start measuring it from the outer edge to straight across the opposite end.

After that, measure perpendicular to which you have measured.

Now calculate the average of these two measurements and you would have a measurement of your round trampoline.

How To Measure A Trampoline

This measurement is for the frame only, in order to measure the mat of a round trampoline, applies the same method and doesn’t include springs into the measurement as they will be measured separately in this case (however, we have explained below the proper method).

Springs of any trampoline are measured separately only when you need to take measurements of the Mat or you need them separately.

By measuring the frame, mat and springs separately, you can easily purchase a new one or can replace the parts of your trampoline.

NOTE: We have mentioned below in detail how to measure the other parts apart from the frame of a trampoline so you can have a better idea.

Measuring Oval trampolines

Measuring oval trampolines is similar to measuring a rectangular one (will discuss later on in detail below).

You need to measure the length from both sides.

How To Measure A Round And Oval Trampoline

Measure the oval shaped trampoline from the outer side to the opposite of its side (this would be counted as the width of it) and now measure the length perpendicular (that would be counted as the depth of it).

The depth by the length will give you the measurements of an oval-shaped trampoline.

After measuring the frame, follow the steps mentioned above for mat and spring as it is and the whole measurement of your oval trampoline is done.

Measuring Square/Rectangular Trampolines

Square and rectangular trampolines are also measured in the same way as oval trampolines.

Start with measuring the shorter sides (in case of square all sides are equal) which would be identical and then measure the longer sides.

How To Measure A Square And Rectangle Trampoline

The horizontal distance would be the width/length and perpendicular distance would be the depth of the rectangular trampoline.

For example; the width of the rectangle trampoline is 10ft and the depth is 7ft.

The size of this trampoline would be 7x10ft

Measuring Octagonal/Hexagonal trampoline

For any oddly shaped trampolines, measure one outer end from one side to the straight opposite side of it and the other measurement for its diameter would be taken perpendicular to the first measurement (just like the previous ones though).

Also, if you have everything with you now and want to setup your new trampoline or any part of it, our guide on assembling any kind of trampoline will have you in saving more time and money.

Measuring Other Parts Of A Trampoline

Now, let’s understand and learn about how to measure other parts of any trampoline.

How to measure Trampoline springs

Measuring springs of your trampoline is super easy and if you are looking for springs only as you might have misplaced some, follow these steps;

  • Remove three springs from your trampoline.
  • Measure the length of each one of them unstretched from hook-to-hook.
  • Take an average of three readings and the average would be your spring length.

How to measure trampoline size for Mat

  1. Measure the diameter of your trampoline frame

Find out the diameter of your trampoline frame from one outer end to the other outer opposite end.

It’s better to take two measurements (horizontally and vertically) and take the average of these two readings.

For example, if you got a reading of 11ft and 13ft, the average size of your frame would be 12ft.

Pro Tip: When taking measurements for the size of the mat, don’t measure the older Mat size as the size of it stretches with time.

How To Measure The Diameter Of A Trampoline Frame
  1. Count the number of V-rings of your Old Mat

The next step is to count the V-rings of your old mat.

It would be better if you mark the area from where you started counting as most of the time people forget their starting point.

Furthermore, try to count the rings at least 3 times to be on a safer side.

  1. Measure the length of the springs

Now measure the length of your springs which we have mentioned in detail above. These three measurements will help you find your desired mat easily.

Measuring Protective pads/Spring cover

Pads and spring covers protect you from any harm while jumping on the trampoline and not every trampoline comes with a safety pad.

However, these pads/covers are custom-made and you can easily order according to the size of your trampoline.

If the spring cover doesn’t come with the package then you need to measure your trampoline properly (which we have guided you how to measure it above).

Measuring Trampoline Net

In order to find the trampoline size for the net, the first thing you need to measure is the frame size of your trampoline and according to the size of it you can buy the net accordingly.

For example; if the size of your trampoline is 8ft (after taking an average measurement) then the net poles you would be getting are 6. For 10ft trampolines with 8 poles.

Furthermore, nowadays universal replacement nettings are available for trampolines which come with zipping and clip openings; suitable for any type of trampoline (of any size).

FAQs

Below are some frequently asked questions regarding trampoline measurements.

How to ensure the poles will suit your trampoline?

In order to measure the net poles or want to make sure whether the poles (new ones) would be suitable for your trampoline or not, you need to follow these steps;

  • Measure the height of the trampoline from ground to the frame.
  • Then measure the length from the frame to the netting poles (old ones).
  • Buy new ones according to the measurements taken.

Does the size of a spring include when measuring the frame of a trampoline?

Yes! When measuring the frame of your trampoline, you need to take measurements from the outer edge to the other opposite outer edge (which includes spring as well).

What is the standard size of a trampoline?

Although it depends upon the user’s choice that which size would be suitable according to the size of your dedicated area, where you are planning to assemble your trampoline.

However, the standard size of a trampoline is 12ft.

Wrapping up

No doubt trampolines are a great source of enjoyment and fun but one needs to take safety measures and safety enclosures to keep the jumper safe and sound.

For that, you need proper measurements of the trampoline.

It doesn’t matter what shape of a trampoline you own, if you are looking for replacement parts or wanting to buy a new one, you need to know the previous measurements and for that, always measure the length and width of the shape (from outer edge to the opposite outer edge).
